New Ryton Park School Construction Officially Under Way
The construction of the new Ryton Park primary school was officially declared under way at a ceremony at the site where the first ‘turf’ was turned on Tuesday, 22 June. Nottinghamshire County Council’s Councillor Dare marked the event with his opening speech, where he declared that the school is due for completion by August 2011.
The new state of the art school has been designed and funded by Nottinghamshire County Council and is modern and environmentally friendly, and has been built in partnership with the contractor Interserve (part of the MCF Framework partnership). The proposed design is for a 15-class primary school with a large Foundation unit and daycare facilities. The new school site will be accessed from Sparken Hill.
Councillor Glyn Gilfoyle praised the recent transformation of other school facilities in Worksop, and expressed his pride in these new facilities for Manton and the wider area. He said, ‘I’ve been involved with everyone in the community on the design, and that’s been particularly important – the school, the children and everyone in the community has been involved in the design of this building as well’ – and commented on how the County Council had been willing to work with the community and the kids of the future.
